  • Lyons High School students’ raised $2,200 for the Cancer Patient Assistance Fund at Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic through their “Light the Way with Hope” endeavor.
Donations were raised by the sale of luminary bags, cancer-ribbon cookies and general donations. Under the guidance and encouragement by Mrs. Camille Clark, the Middle/High School band director and cancer survivor, the students organized a community-wide effort to raise the money for the Fund.
Donors decorated bags in honor or memory of those who have battled cancer, or requested the team of girls do the decorating. Abbie Shields, Meghan Johns, and Emily Gifford were at the core of the group, but they received help from others including Dana Hernandes and Jessica Norris.
The Patient Assistanc Fund provides assistance to income-eligible cancer patients treated at Finger Lakes Hematology & Oncology, Finger Lakes Radiation Oncology Center and Clifton Springs Hospital & Clinic.
