  • The American Baseball Coaches Association announced last week that Finger Lakes Community College outfielder Joey Simmons is the NJCAA Division III Defensive Player of the Year. The Victor native is the first FLCC player to receive such recognition.

  • The American Baseball Coaches Association announced last week that Finger Lakes Community College outfielder Joey Simmons is the NJCAA Division III Defensive Player of the Year. The Victor native is the first FLCC player to receive such recognition.
    Simmons recorded a .990 fielding percentage, with only one error in 103 total chances. The Victor High School graduate recorded 98 putouts while also recording a team-high four outfield assists.
    The freshman also received an ABCA/Rawlings Gold Glove for his defensive efforts. Simmons was one of only two freshmen to receive such recognition at the Division III level.
