  • Get a recap of Wednesday's high school sports action as the Mynderse boys tennis team defeats Pal-Mac for the first time in five seasons.

    Mynderse 5,
    Pal-Mac 0
    The Mynderse boys tennis team improved to 3-0 on the season with a win versus Pal-Mac.
    The win is the first for the Blue Devils over the Red Raiders in the last five seasons.
    John Wilson, Josh Cracknell and Vito Cinicrope were all winners in singles for Mynderse. On the doubles side the teams of Stephan McCann/Gunzee Bajwa and Carlos Pena-Alicea/Devon Turner were also winners.
    Pal-Mac falls to 2-1.
    Honeoye 5,
    Geneva 0
    The Honeoye boys tennis team earned a sweep of Geneva on Wednesday afternoon, moving the Bulldogs to 2-1 on the season.
    Brian Manciocchi, Ben Cratsley and Elijah Sacchitella all picked up a point in singles play for Honeoye while the teams of Cody Finster/Kyle Stone and Dustin Tagg/Nate Brewer both earned a point in doubles.
    Geneva drops to 0-2.
    Penn Yan 4,
    Newark 1
    The Penn Yan boys tennis team defeated Newark 4-1 on Wednesday in the Mustangs’ home opener.
    David Travis (6-3, 7-6 [7-4]) and Tyler Bailey (6-2, 6-4) each earned points in singles for the Mustangs. Penn Yan also swept the doubles competition as the teams of Jeff Schiek/John Foster (6-1, 6-2) and Joe Anderson/Dan Ledgerwood (6-2, 6-3) each earned straight set wins.
    Jon Norris earned a 2-6, 6-3, 6-4 win at second singles for Newark (1-1).
    Penn Yan improves to 2-1.
    Midlakes 5,
    Waterloo 0
    The Midlakes boys tennis team earned a win over Waterloo on Wednesday, giving the Screaming Eagles their first win of the season.
    Jason Simmons, Ken Shultes and Gavin Record were all winners at singles play for Midlakes.
    Waterloo lost both doubles matches due to forfeit.
    Marcus Whitman 3,
    Naples 2
    The Marcus Whitman boys tennis team defeated Naples on Wednesday, earning all three of their points in singles play.
    John Talbot, Brad Jones and Noah Santiago all picked up wins in singles competition for the Wildcats.
    On the doubles side the teams of Gawain Robinson/Jericho Cervantes and Luke Iverson/Jordan Ratt each earned points for Naples (2-1).

    SOFTBALL
    Newark 10,
    Penn Yan 9
    The Newark softball team improved to 6-1 with a victory against Penn Yan on Wednesday in thanks to a four-run seventh inning.
    Emily Hauf connected for a two-run home run in the bottom of the seventh to help lift Newark to the comeback win. McKenna Pettit was 2-for-4 with a double.
    Page 2 of 6 - Ashley Walker finished 3-for-5 to lead Penn Yan (2-6).
    Marcus Whitman 16,
    Naples 7
    The Marcus Whitman softball team topped Naples on Wednesday, fueled by a seven run first inning.
    Dakota Michael went 3-for-5 with a pair of home runs to lead the Wildcats.
    Loran Flieschman went 3-for-4 with a triple and two RBI to pace Naples. Jessie Gorcia was 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI.
    Geneva 9,
    Midlakes 0
    Alyssa Durette allowed two hits and two walks while striking out 14 to lead the Geneva girls softball team to a win over Midlakes.
    Alexus Spann went 3-for-4 with two RBI to fuel the Panther offense.
    Red Jacket 20,
    H-AC 1
    The Red Jacket softball team opened its season on Wednesday with a win against H-AC.
    Lindsay Arena scored on an RBI single by Emily Yax for H-AC (1-3).
    Mercy 12,
    Penfield 9
    The Mercy softball team earned a win over Penfield on Wednesday, moving the Monarchs to 4-2 on the season.
    Megan Ferraioli had a two-run single for Mercy in the top of the sixth inning to break a 9-9 tie. Ferraioli finished 2-for-4 with four RBI while Aiden Falk went 2-for-2 with a triple, a home run, two RBI, four runs scored and three intentional walks.
    Alicia Flanagan had two hits and scored two runs for Penfield (4-2).
    Webster Schroeder 11,
    Hilton 7
    Webster Schroeder moved to 4-1 with a win against Hilton on Wednesday.
    Adrianna Bilal led Webster Schroeder with a 4-for-5 day from the plate, including two doubled and five RBI. Leah Segerlin added two hits and two RBI.
    Taylor Sile went 2-for-3 to pace Hilton (1-4).
    Pittsford Sutherland 5,
    Victor 4
    The Pittsford Sutherland girls softball team remained undefeated at 3-0 with a win against Victor on Wednesday.
    Trailing by one, Sutherland’s Jes Marini plated the tying run with a single in the bottom of the seventh. Marissa O’Leary followed with an RBI single to win the game.
    Nicolette Kulakowski allowed no hits through five innings for Victor. Pittsford Sutherland finished with just four hits on the day.
    Rush-Henrietta 18,
    Gates Chili 6
    The Royal Comets evened their record at 3-3 with a win against Gates Chili on Wednesday.
    Halee Baumgras recorded three RBI to lead Rush-Henrietta. Jordyn Simmons and Alyssa Posner each had two hits.
    Rebecca Kellog led Gates Chili (1-4) with two hits.
    Gananda 18,
    Sodus 2
    Darci MacFall went 3-for-4 with two triples and two runs scored to lead Gananda to a win against Sodus.
    Page 3 of 6 - Bri Walker added two hits, including a triple, for the Blue Panthers while also scoring three runs.
    Greece Arcadia 11,
    Spencerport 4
    The Greece Arcadia softball team defeated Spencerport 11-4 on Wednesday to even its record at 3-3 on the season.
    Chelsea Philbin finished 3-for-4 with two doubles and four RBI to propel the Titans. Amanda Dow also went 3-for-4 while scoring two runs.
    Patricia Desiato had a 3-for-3 day to lead Spencerport.
    Churchville-Chili 15,
    Greece Odyssey 1
    The Churchville-Chili girls softball team ran its season record to 4-1 with a win against Greece Odyssey on Wednesday.
    Leighanne Pettis struck out 17 while allowing just one walk and one hit to pick up the win. McKenzie Owen went 3-for-4 with four RBI.

    GIRLS LACROSSE
    Greece Lightning 6,
    Greece Thunder 5
    The Greece Lightning picked up their first win of the season with a victory over cross-town rival Greece Thunder.
    Kelcie Fenner scored with just over two minutes left in the game to lift the Lightning to the win. Jamie Barbara added three goals while Brianna Rizarri made 18 saves to earn the win between the pipes.
    Brockport 11,
    Livonia 10
    The Brockport girls lacrosse team evened its season record at 2-2 with a win against Livonia on Wednesday afternoon.
    Ally Ruggierri scored four goals and handed out one assist to pace Brockport. Kirsten Craig had two goals and one assist while Katie Johnson added three assists.
    Taylor VanThof scored four goals to lead Livonia (2-1).
    Irondequoit 8,
    Rush-Henrietta 5
    The Irondequoit girls lacrosse team ran its season record to 4-1 with a win over Rush-Henrietta on Wednesday.
    Jen Reininger finished with four goals and two assists to lead Irondequoit. Jamie Smock added two goals.
    Elle McMillian scored one goal and dished out one assist for Rush-Henrietta (2-1).
    Canandaigua 16,
    Fairport 6

    Brighton 18,
    Webster Schroeder 9
    The Barons improved to 6-1 on the season with a win over Webster Schroeder.
    Carly Randall netted four goals and passed out one assist to lead Brighton. Meghan Bowen chipped in two goals and two assists.
    Webster Schroeder falls to 2-3.
    Victor 9,
    Penfield 8
    Hannah Savage scored the game-winner off a pass from Kara Martin with just over three minutes left in the game to lift Victor to a 9-8 win over Penfield in girls lacrosse.
    Page 4 of 6 - Victor led 5-2 at halftime but Penfield opened the second half on a 5-0 run to take the lead. Trailing 8-6 the Blue Devils scored the final three goals to get the win.
    Savage finished with four goals and one assist in the victory. Megan Maloney had two goals and one assist, Kara Martin and Bridget Flynn each had one goal and one assist and ALyssa Fries scored one goal. Liz Nussbaum made nine saves to pick up the win in goal.
    Sheila Nesselbush tallied four goals to lead Penfield (2-2). Shannon Nesselbush had one goal and one assist while Emma Powlin, Mackenzie Marin and Lindsay Gamer each had one goal.
    Victor improves to 4-2.
    Webster Thomas 11,
    HF-L 9
    The Webster Thomas girls lacrosse team remained undefeated at 4-0 with a win over HF-L on Wednesday.
    Jessica Boddery and Rachel Cumell both recorded three goals and two assists to lead the Titans.
    Sarah Legrett posted three goals to lead HF-L (1-3).
    Hilton 12,
    Spencerport 5
    The Hilton girls lacrosse team improved to 2-4 with a victory against Spencerport.
    Anai Flanagan scored one goal and handed out three assists to lead the Cadets, moving her past the 100 point mark for her career. Blair Beasley had five goals while Jessica Zagari made nine saves to pick up the win in goal.
    Spencerport falls to 1-2.

    BASEBALL
    Bloomfield 5,
    Honeoye 4
    The Bloomfield baseball team earned a 5-4 win over league rival Honeoye on Wednesday, moving the Bombers to 2-0 on the season.
    Bloomfield’s Richie Ashman connected with on a bases loaded single in the bottom of the fifth inning to tie the score at 3-3. The Bombers took a one run lead on a wild pitch then went ahead by two on a RBI ground out by Austin Ferguson.
    Brad Mills picked up the win in relief for Bloomfield, striking out the final batter of the game with the bases loaded after Honeoye scored to get within one.
    Justin Kraft had two singles for Honeoye (2-1) to finish as the only player on either team with multiple hits.
    Honeoye drops to 2-1.
    Victor 5,
    Batavia 2
    Tommy Wagner went 2-for-4 with one RBI to lead Victor to a win over Batavia.
    Mike Wagner added a two-run double for the Blue Devils. Mike Parsons allowed three hits and one earned run over four innings to earn the win while Pete Carrier came on to secure the save.
    Nick Mungillo had a double for Batavia.

    Red Jacket 16,
    Honeoye 1
    The Red Jacket baseball team defeated H-AC on Wednesday to begin the season 1-0.
    Sean Sheets had a fine day at the plate and on the mound for the Indians, striking out six over three innings while going 3-for-3 with two runs scored.
    Alex Frenett finished with two hits and one stolen base to lead H-AC (2-2).
    Penn Yan 9,
    Newark 6
    Alex McKay went 4-for-4 with three runs scored to lead the Penn Yan baseball team to a win over Newark.
    John Martisch went 2-for-3 with a double and one RBI in the victory.
    Alec Otero finished 2-for-4 with a double and one RBI to pace Newark (1-5).
    Greece Athena 6,
    Canandaigua 2
    The Greece Athena baseball team improved to 4-1 with a 6-2 win over Canandaigua on Wednesday.
    Mike DiStefano spun a complete game five-hitter for Athena, striking out five on his way to the victory. Frankie Carnevale went 2-for-2 with a triple and two RBI to lead the Trojan offense. Ryan Prevost had an RBI double in the bottom of the fifth inning to break a 1-1 tie.
    Jordan Roeder each went 2-for-3 to lead Canandaigua (2-3).
    Fairport 9,
    Gates Chili 1
    The Faiport baseball team moved over .500 with a triumph over Gates Chili.
    Phil Huang and Nick Polisseni combined to strike out 11 in a one-hitter for the Red Raiders. Conrad Record began the game with a lead-off home run while Tyler Dardzinsky added a three-run blast in the second inning.
    Mynderse 8,
    Wayne 7
    Mynderse earned a win over Wayne in baseball on Wednesday, coming back from a 5-0 deficit after the first inning.
    Nick Pedulla scored Jarod Coffey on a squeeze bunt in the top of the sixth inning to life the Blue Devils to the win.
    Mynderse improves to 3-2, 2-0.
    Hilton 5,
    Webster Schroeder 0
    Noah Cole tossed a struck out nine in a complete game effort to lift Hilton to a win over Webster Schroeder.
    Cole helped himself from the plate, going 3-for-4 with one RBI and one run scored.
    Chris Young had a pair of hits to lead Webster Schroeder (4-1).
    Hilton improves to 4-1.
    Greece Arcadia 10,
    Spencerport 4
    The Greece Arcadia baseball team defeated Spencerport on Wednesday to pick up its first win of the season.
    Eric Statt and Jeff Rachow each amassed three hits and two RBI to power the Titans. Sean Taylor, Larry Ezrow and Anthony Rodriguez each added two hits in the win.

    Eastridge 2
    The Patriots improved to 4-1 on the season with a win over Eastridge.
    Four Penfield pitchers combined on a two-hitter as Matt Hodge, Brian Reed, Charles Wan and Pierce Hawley mowed down 13 Eastridge batters on the way to victory. Cam Yatteau went 2-for-2 with two RBI to lead the Patriot offense.
    GOLF
    Victor 216,
    Rush-Henrietta 223
    The Victor golf team earned a win over Rush-Henrietta on Wednesday in a match held at Wildwood Country Club.
    Tom Kolb and Matt Licata were the low finishers for Victor.
    Greece Olympia 255,
    Aquinas 256
    The Greece Olympia golf team picked up its first win of the season on Wednesday, finishing one stroke better than Aquinas in a match held at Caledonia Country Club.
    Olympia’s Elijah Burke carded a 44 to take medalist honors on the par-37 back nine.
