At the Dec. 5, Wayne County Board of Supervisors Public Safety Committee meeting Sheriff Barry Virts recognized Deputy Sheriff George Pierce’s retirement from the Sheriff’s Office with 27 years of full and part time service.

Deputy Pierce worked out of the Police Services Road Patrol serving Family Court Orders and Criminal Court Subpoenas. Pierce retired from full time service in1994 and continued part time with the Sheriff’s Office until December 1, 2012.

“In honor and in recognition of your dedication and professionalism to the people of Wayne County, victims and the Wayne County Office of Sheriff, I present to you this Certificate of Appreciation with heartfelt admiration,” Sheriff Virts said. “Your career with the Sheriff’s Office has made Wayne County a better place.”
