  • More details of Dec. 24 tragedy are released

  • The Webster Police Department and New York State Police have just released an update on autopsy results, from the Monroe County Medical Examiner's Office, in the Town of Webster double homicide Dec. 24.
    Firefighter Michael Chiapperini, also a Lieutenant in the Webster Police Department, died as a result of a single gunshot wound.
    Firefighter Tomasz Kaczowka, just 19, died as a result of two gunshot wounds.
    The two were responding to a reported structure fire at 191 Lake Road, in Webster, about 6 a.m. Monday, Dec. 24, when they were allegedly "ambushed" by a resident there.
    The suspect, William Spengler, died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot to his head.
    There was no evidence of any other gunshot wounds to Mr. Spengler.
    Other remains located at 191 Lake Road are still being confirmed at this time.
    As far as the weapons involved, the ATF has assisted the New York State Police with obtaining information on the origin of the weapons.
    Investigators are currently working to trace the history of the weapons and confirm how Mr. Spengler came  to possess them.
