Due to overwhelming response, calling hours today, Friday, Dec. 28, for the West Webster Fire Department's Past Chief, Mike Chiapperini, and firefighter Tomasz Kaczowka have been open to the public, and will remain open until 9 p.m. Calling hours were also held from 5 to 6 p.m. today for fire and police personnel only. (Scenes from tonight's calling hours are included in the pictures that accompany this article.)
Both Past Chief Chiapperini, also a Lieutenant in the Webster Police Department, and Mr. Kaczowka were killed in a Christmas eve ambush on Lake Road in Webster.
Calling hours are being held simultaneously for both firefighters at Webster Schroeder High School, 875 Ridge Road, Webster.
Calling hours will continue from noon to 3 p.m. and 6 to 9 p.m. tomorrow, Saturday, Dec. 29. Parking may be limited at Schroeder high school. Mourners are asked to car pool as much as possible. Additional parking will be made available at Thomas High School, 800 Five Mile Line Road, Webster. Shuttle transportation will be provided to Schroeder on a continual basis.
Funeral services for Past Chief Chiapperini will be held at noon Sunday, Dec. 30, also at Schroeder High School. Attendees are encouraged to car pool as much as possible or utilize private bus accommodations. Overflow parking will be available at Thomas High School, 800 Five Mile Line Road, with transportation to services provided.
Any fire apparatus used to transport members to the service are to park at the Willink Middle School, 900 Publishers Parkway. Transportation will be provided to the service. All fire service members are asked to be at Schroeder by 10 a.m. to line up for Sunday's service. There will be no public procession to the cemetery at the end of services.
The funeral service for firefighter Tomasz Kaczowka will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 31 at St. Stanislaus Church, 1124 Hudson Ave., Rochester.
