At last year’s New York State Alpine Skiing Championships, Canandaigua’s KG Norris placed ninth in the giant slalom and 20th in slalom. The sophomore improved upon that finish this year taking ninth in giant slalom and 10th in slalom Monday and Tuesday at Whiteface Mountain.

Norris recorded a two-run combined time of 1:52.12 in the giant slalom and 1:44.96 in the slalom.

Honeoye Falls-Lima’s Maggy Gilligan won the giant slalom (1:49.24) and Burnt Hills-Ballston Spa’s (Section 2) Demi Feder won the slalom (1:36.31).

Freshman Leah Norris, KG’s younger sister, didn’t finish in the slalom, but took 25th in the giant slalom (1:58.86).

“They did phenomenally all year,” Braves coach Mike Madden said. “They work hard, train hard and they’re focused. As a coach you can’t ask for much more.”

Victor’s Maddy Haggerty finished 37th in slalom (1:56.73) and 29th in giant slalom (2:01.5). The freshman also received the sportsmanship award for Section 5 girls.

Newark’s Sage Salone finished 31st in slalom (1:54.47) and 24th in giant slalom (1:58.84).

Sean Donohue of Bolton (Section 2) won the boys slalom (1:29.73) and giant slalom (1:42.57) titles.
