Deputies Nicholas Yates and Andrew Hares are new additions to the Wayne County Sheriff’s road patrol.

Sheriff Barry Virts announces the addition of deputies Andrew Hares and Nicholas Yates to the road patrol. Both Hares and Yates started the Police Officer Basic School through the Finger Lakes Law Enforcement Academy on Jan. 11 and have completed 12 weeks of field training.  
 
Hares has an A.A.S. degree in criminal justice from Finger Lakes Community College and a bachelor’s degree in criminal justice from Keuka College. Starting with the sheriff’s office on Sept. 26, 2008 as a corrections officer and later transferred to the road patrol as a deputy on Jan. 11. Hares lives in Newark.

Yates has an A.A.S. degree in criminal justice from Cayuga Community College, started with the sheriff’s office on Jan. 11 as a deputy sheriff. Yates lives in Red Creek.  

“I am very excited for deputies Hares and Yates,” Virts said. “Both have an excellent understanding of public service to the community and their significant role in public safety as a deputy sheriff. I hope both these young men have a long and exceptional career with this sheriff’s office.”
