Auburn—Gansz, Irma E., 89, passed away June 22, 2013 at the Auburn Nursing Home in Auburn.


Family and friends may call from 4 to 7 p.m. June 27 at White Chapel Funeral Home, 187 South St., Auburn. Services will be held at 10 a.m. June 28 at the funeral home. Burial will take place in Cayuga Cemetery.


In lieu of flowers, donations in Irma's memory may be made to the Aurelius Fire Department and Rescue Squad, 6320 Half Acre Road, Auburn.


Mrs. Gansz was born in Seneca Falls on Jan. 22, 1924.  She was the daughter of the late Warren Scott and Grace Buckley, and was raised by her adoptive parents, James and Lillian Scott, from the age of 5. Irma graduated from Union Springs High School. She  was employed at W.T. Grants and  Bo-mer Plastics in Auburn. Mrs. Gansz taught cooking and sewing with 4-H and volunteered with the Cub Scouts. She enjoyed league bowling and gardening and she especially loved spending time with her grandchildren.


Irma is survived by her devoted husband of  70  years, Vernon  Gansz, her children, Patricia A. Cass and her husband William E. II; MaryBeth Pethybridge and her husband Michael; Amy Walowsky and her husband Dennis; James V. Gansz with Coreen Flynn; her grandchildren, Taffney A. (Roy) Blowers, Michelle Carnicelli, Jason Ciaschi, Carrie (Nick) Adams, Scott (Lori) Walowsky, Nicole Taylor and Patricia Gansz; 11 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson and close family friends Sarah and David Schott.  She is also survived by her husband’s family in Lyons.


Irma was predeceased by her grandson Ryan Taylor.
