  • Arnold, Sarah Elizabeth
    Sarah Elizabeth Arnold, 78, passed away peacefully with her family beside her on Wednesday, Oct. 31, 2012.
    A native of Walnut Cove, N.C., she was born on Nov. 5, 1933. The daughter of the late Frank and Rosa Dunlap Knight, she had been employed by the New York State Mental Health Department.
    Surviving Sarah are her two daughters, Robin Knight, of Auburn, and Mary Arnold, of Canandaigua; a son, Peter Arnold, of Syracuse; a sister, Mildred Rosekrans/Cornell, of Watkins Glen; nieces Kim, Susan, Lisa, Nancy and Shari; and nephews Billy, Jeremy and their families.
    She was predeceased by two sisters, Nancy Knight and Betty Knight, and a brother, George Knight.
    "Watching you take such good care of grandma left a lasting impression. It was an honor to help you with dementia and cancer. You left Mary-Attitude and Spunk, Peter-Compassion and Sensitivity and Robin-Strength and Forgiveness. We will show up for our lives, mom. Thank you for leading the way and showing us that life, death and illness can be embraced with joy. Love you forever and you will always be in our hearts. To all those who allowed Miss Sarah into your world, a sincere and warm thank you from all her family. One can never have enough love."
    Funeral services will be held privately for the family. Funeral arrangements are with White Chapel Home, 197 South St., Auburn.
    Caesar, James E.
    LYONS — James E. Caesar, age 55, of William Street, died Friday, Nov. 2, 2012.
    A memorial service was held at the Boeheim Pusaterri Funeral Home, 77 William St., Lyons, on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at 7 p.m. Friends called on Friday from 6:30 to 7 p.m.
    Jim was born in Milwaukee, Wis., Feb. 23, 1957, son of Donald and Dorreen Ann Drewek Caesar. He worked at Mobil Chemical & Pliant Co. in Macedon for 18 years. He also worked part time at Wayne Hills Country Club, Parker Hannifin in Clyde and IEC. He was a member of the Lyons Elks Lodge No. 869, where he also did maintenance work.
    He is survived by his mother Dorreen Ann Drewek of Wis., son: James Jr. of Syracuse, sister, Heidi Caesar of Wisc., good friend and caregiver; Mark Bookmiller of Lyons, and many other family members.
    Fowler, Barbara E.
    NEWARK — Barbara Eleanor Fowler, 88, entered eternity on Friday, Nov. 9, 2012 at Rochester General Hospital.
    All services will be private. Burial in Fairville Cemetery.

    Mrs. Fowler was born the daughter of the late Gabriel and Verna (Ross) MacWilliams on Thursday, Nov. 22, 1923 in Gorham. She worked for Jamesway as a sales clerk for many years. Mrs. Fowler enjoyed reading, sewing, dancing and working in her flower garden. She was such a excellent seamstress. She could look at a dress at a store, go home and make that same dress without a pattern.

    Mrs. Fowler was predeceased by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Fowler on Aug. 12, 2012; son, Rodney Charles Fowler in 1982; several brothers and sisters.

    Marr, Gerald William
    LYONS/PALMYRA — Gerald William Marr, 57, of Canal St., Palmyra, died Monday, Nov. 5, 2012 at Thompson Hospital, Canandaigua.
    A memorial service was held Friday, Nov. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at Elmwood Cemetery, Rt. 14, Lyons.
    Memorials to Humane Society of Wayne County or American Cancer Society.
    Jerry was born in Lyons on May 8, 1955, son of Robert and Mary Nellis Marr. He had worked at Ultra Life Battery and did construction work. He was a life member of the VFW of Lyons and served in the Navy. He was an avid neon sign man.
    Survived by his daughter, Patricia Marr Bassett of Lyons; grandson, Jordan Marr; sister, Patricia (Robert) Hanley of Rochester; three brothers, Robert E. (Kathy) of Lyons, John C. (Debbie) and Thomas R. (Diane), both of Newark; aunt, Anna Mae Nellis; sister-in-law, Mary Marr, nieces, nephews.

    Rohrer, Gerald L.
    NEWARK — Gerald L. Rohrer, 83, died Sunday, Nov. 4 at the DeMay Living Center.
    Friends called from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 8 and Friday, Nov. 9 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. on Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Lighthouse Baptist Church, 1000 South Main Street, Newark. Burial will be in East Newark Cemetery.

    Mr. Rohrer was born on May 13, 1929 in Rohrerville, Maryland, the son of the late Charles and Mary Hines Rohrer. A Korean War veteran, Jerry had enlisted in the Marine Corps in 1947, serving four years. He attended John Hopkins University and became a sales representative and manager for several companies in the agri-chemical industry. Jerry was a member of the Newark Masonic Lodge and the Rochester Consistory. He belongs to the Damascus Shrine of Webster, the Royal Order of Jesters and President of the Wayne County Shriners. He is a member of the Lighthouse Baptist Church, the Gideons and the Newark Elks Club.
    He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Lois Robinson Rohrer; his children, Kenneth (Deborah) of Troy, Ohio, Linda (David) Snyder of Newark, Gary (Nina) of South Plainfield, N.J., and Lisa (Martin) Grimes of Clifton Springs; nine grandchildren and a great-grandson; two brothers, Wilmer (Shirley) and Donald (Merry) Rohrer of Ocean City, Md.; several nieces and nephews.  Jerry was predeceased by his parents and two sisters, Marjorie Mogensen and Evelyn Kesecker.

    PALMYRA/MACEDON — Young, Janice M. died on Thursday, Nov. 8, 2012 at the age of 79.
    Family and friends were invited to call from 2 to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Nov. 11 at the Robert L. Yost Funeral Home, Inc., 123 W. Main St., Palmyra. A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 12 at the funeral home. Burial will follow in Palmyra Cemetery.

    Janice was predeceased by her husband, Albert; sisters, Arlene Stanton and Evelyn Leow; brothers, Leonard and Kenneth Case; and grandson, Jared Young.
    She is survived by her daughters, Diane (Kevin) Swan, Sandra (Gerald) McCanless and Wendy (Kevin) Theisman; sons, Dale (Evonne) and Mark (Alice) Young; brother, Robert (Betty) Case; 15 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; and longtime companion, Ralph Collier; and his daughter, Mary (Jim) Kahn, and their daughters and sons-in-law.

    NEWARK — Robert Young, 85, died Saturday, Nov. 10, 2012 at the Newark- Wayne Community Hospital.
    Friends called from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Nov. 13 at the Paul L. Murphy & Sons Funeral Home, 127 East Miller Street, Newark. Funeral Services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 14 at the funeral home with Rev. Christy Wareham officiating. Burial will be in Newark Cemetery

    Mr. Young was born on Dec. 21, 1926, in Lyons the son of Floyd and Grace Benning Young. He graduated from the Lyons High School in 1945 and joined the U.S. Army for the remainder of World War II.  Bob worked for the Village of Newark for 31 years. He was the chief operator of the waste water treatment plant on Murray Street, retiring in 1993. He was a member of the Park Presbyterian Church, the Geneva YMCA and had been a volunteer with the Boy Scouts.
    Bob is survived by his wife of 64 years, Jean Cowan Young; two sons, Richard (Diane) of Lyons and Michael (Roxanne); a daughter, Linda (Terry) Button of Phoenix, N.Y.; 10 grandchildren and a great-grandson.  
    He was predeceased by an infant son, John; twin sons, Thomas in 1990 and Daniel in 2006; two brothers, Everett and Ralph; two sisters, Florence Yarrabee and Margie Clum.
