  • Organizations, businesses pitch in for Red Cross gift drive

  • The Wayne County Chapter of the American Red Cross is pleased to announce that on Dec. 10 and 11, Wayne County residents will have an opportunity to pick up holiday gifts for children at no cost to them.  
    Employees and volunteers from the following Wayne County organizations and businesses are busily collecting new and unwrapped items for needy children: Lyons National Bank, Maco Bag, IEC Electronics, Dr. Pepper Snapple Group, Blossom View Nursing and Rehabilitation Center, Town Of Williamson – Library, Woodlane Community Church, Redeemer Lutheran Church, St. Mark’s Episcopal Church, Emmanuel United Methodist Church, Rebecca/Ruth Circle at the First United Methodist Church, Word Of God Ministries, Tom Wahl’s, Wayne County Bar Association, Newark Rotary Club, Newark First United Methodist Women, and the Hubertus and Helmi Behrla Endowment Fund.
    The Red Cross would like to thank all of these organizations for their generosity this holiday season.
     
    The items will be available to the public beginning on Dec. 10 on a first come first serve basis. The gift center will be open to the public Dec. 10 and 11 from 9 a.m. until 3 p.m.  Additional dates and times may be added dependent on the volume of items donated. The gift center will be located at the St. Mark’s Episcopal Church located at 400 S. Main St. in Newark.
    Eligibility requirements include:
    • Must show provide documentation (bill, rent lease, etc) showing current Wayne County residency
    • Must provide valid picture ID
    • Must provide birth certificates for all children applying for assistance
    • Age eligibility is 6 months to 17 years of age.
