  • Sally Bedell Smith is the bestselling author of autobiographies on the Kennedy White House, Diana, Princess of Wales, Pamela Harriman and William S. Paley.
At a recent luncheon, longtime contributor to the Newark Public Library book review series , Jean Richards Seymour described Bedell's latest work, “Elizabeth the Queen”.
The war years played a major role in Elizabeth's preparation for becoming Queen in 1953 and her devotion to duty was absolute. The book tells about her encounters with 12 Prime Ministers and  how she strived to put them at ease.
The book review series, now in its 53rd year, continues on Friday, Dec. 14, when Dr. Fred Hicks will portray a favorite person in history. Call the library for details, 331-4370.
