  • LETTER: The Monroe County Fair move — what could have been

  • The fair could have moved into part of Rochester Technology Park (formerly Kodak Elmgrove), where it could have benefited from both the surrounding agrarian area in western Gates and neighboring Ogden, as well as the technology of the park

  • Residents of Ogden around Northampton Park do not realize that the new and improved Monroe County Fair beginning this summer will not have any of the carnival amenities that they are concerned about. However, perhaps things could have been somewhat better.
The fair could have moved into part of Rochester Technology Park (formerly Kodak Elmgrove), where it could have benefited from both the surrounding agrarian area in western Gates and neighboring Ogden, as well as the technology of the park, as this was a part of the fair in the former Dome Center for years. Traffic, which may increase in Northampton Park, would also have been less of a concern on Elmgrove and Manitou roads and the Route 531 expressway.
However, it looks as though — although agriculture will finally shine again and there will be no more putrid smells of unhealthy carnival food — the move to Northampton is a done deal.
