A charity hockey game to benefit the family of a local boy awaiting a heart transplant will be held at Thomas Creek Ice Arena this Friday.
Dominic Pasquantonio, 12, of Rochester was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) which means he has an underdeveloped left ventricle. He is a fan of the NY Rangers hockey team.
Dominic was 10 days old when he had his first open-heart surgery at Strong Memorial Hospital. He was recently accepted as a candidate for surgery and follow-up treatment at Strong. He is currently first on the waiting list, so his heart transplant could take place at any moment.
The Heart Strong Hockey Game will help cover medical and other expenses for the family. It will be held Friday, June 28 at 8:30 p.m. as the Ontario Pulse face off against the Rochester Lifeliners at Thomas Creek Ice Arena, 80 Lyndon Road, Fairport. Doors will open at 7 p.m. for raffles, 50/50, baked goods and more. Admission is a $5 donation at the door.
On Sunday, June 30 family and friends will also host a Zumbathon fundraiser event at the Ontario Community Center, located 6551 Knickerbocker Rd., Ontario for a $10 donation at the door, children $5. Raffle prizes and more will be provided.
