  • While much of current-day America is glued to reality TV, videogames, and the vast arena of the social media scene, the very fabric of our lifestyle and place in the world order is unraveling at a frenetic pace but largely going unnoticed by the majority of the populace.
We live in a dream world of misunderstanding and ignorance — and worse, we are the product of an incompetent and morally bankrupt government at all levels. It is no longer government by the people, of the people or for the people; it is government despite the people.
While the average citizen dreams on about improving his economic lot or condition, the government turns up the money printing machine run by the present Wizard of Oz known as the Federal Reserve Bank, which is cranking out a product that the world will soon view as valueless. Meanwhile, our government votes on issues as important as National Pickle Day while ignoring the deafening roar of the freight train of economic disaster coming through the tunnel. A stock and bond market built upon a house of cards, unfathomable national and personal debt, unwillingness on the part of the public or governmental agencies to acknowledge the problems or intervene in any meaningful way — this is a prescription for disaster that is headed our way in the all too near future.
The truly sad thing about it is that it is probably much too late to do anything meaningful to correct it or turn things around as we are way too far over our heads economically and far too blind in the psychological sense to overcome the illusion of “stability” and “status quo” and active denial that give rise to believing the deliberate deceptiveness of our own government and elected officials. The fact is that they don’t have a clue any more than we do about how to get out of this mess that has now become a global nightmare as well (witness Greece, Spain and Italy among a host of others). Their answer or supposed solution is to print our way out of the mess with money. We know that is not the answer — the problem is only made worse by that approach. We’ve been spending money for many years that we never had, and it is now drowning us in national debt. “Obamacare” may be just the torch to set the fire or the straw to break the proverbial camel’s back. Fixing Social Security will appear as a “minor” issue or microcosm compared to the emergent instability of our economy.
Make no mistake — our condition of naked economic weakness and related vulnerability, both economically and militarily, has not escaped the awareness of our neighbors, allies, or our enemies. It is no small concern that Russia and China show a marked lack of respect for our President at every opportunity and our nation as well. America is now only as strong as its ability to borrow money from other nations — some of whom are actually our enemies — but we fail to either recognize or admit it and go on pretending the problems do not exist.
Page 2 of 2 - The way out of this mess is unclear to even the most intelligent or perceptive analyst. The consequence of continuing on in the current manner, however, is totally transparent: We are headed for disaster without a viable way out.
