  • Local jazzercisers recently raised more than $6,000 for Gilda’s Club Rochester through a dance-fitness class April 21 at St. Thomas More School in Brighton.
The class was held in honor of Lizzy Spencer, daughter of jazzercise instruction Andrea Spencer, who lost her battle with cancer last August. The fundraiser drew more than 120 participants and featured raffles for a number of items, including gift certificates to local restaurants, spa packages and designer bags.
The funds will be used to support Gilda’s Club Rochester’s “campership fund” at the annual Camp Open Arms, a two-week day camp for children dealing with cancer or other blood-related diseases.
