  • The community continues to find ways to help the 11 families who lost their apartments and most of their possessions in the downtown blaze May 3.
Money raised from a musical fundraiser Saturday, May 11 for victims of the fire was presented last Monday, May 13.
Lock 29 owners Ethel Graham and John Graham presented checks to Steve Marsille of the Good Neighbor Fund in Palmyra. The benefit raised $1,500, and that $1,500 was matched by Lock 29 for a total of $3,000 for the fire victims who lost their homes and many possessions.
In other fundraising news, the Palmyra-Macedon cheerleaders, led by coach Jennifer Halsey-Countryman, organized a car wash at Breen’s Shop ’N Save on Friday, May 17.
A collection also took place over the weekend at the 4-H building at the Wayne County Fairgrounds. Those coordinating relief efforts will be creating a temporary "Apartment Department Store" for those fire victims to come in select items to fill up their new residences.
Those still wishing to contribute can send money to the Good Neighbor Fund through the Western Presbyterian Church, 101 E. Main St., Palmyra, 14522. Checks can be mailed there, or cash and checks can be dropped off at the American For the latest fundraising news, go to http://on.fb.me/10wdPTK
