  • Newark-Wayne Community Hospital, DeMay Living Center, and the Rochester General Medical Group will be hosting the 7th annual free community event, "Spring Fest" on Saturday, June 2 from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. in tents on the grounds of the hospital, 1200 Driving Park Avenue in Newark.
    Event highlights
    1 League champions, the Newark Pilots will be available to meet and greet Wayne County community members and a medical transport helicopter from Mercy Flight Central will pay a visit at Spring Fest. Mercy Flight helicopter will be on site unless called for a medical transport.
    2 In addition, a local author who is also a Newark-Wayne patient who captured the story of his experience with a major medical event, will be on-site signing his book. Come to Spring Fest to find out more about this local story.
    3 Other activities will include: a bike helmet fitting and give-away (limited quantities and sizes for children ages 2 to 12); a bike rodeo; drawings for free children’s bicycles; a car seat safety check; free glucose screens (12 hour fasting from food is suggested. Diabetics should follow their physician's orders) and blood pressures; free refreshments; booths sponsored by emergency medical service providers, hospital departments and Wayne County organizations; fun music and much more. Also, the Emergency Department will be again be sponsoring the Teddy Bear Clinic and children are asked to bring a teddy bear or one of their other special stuffed friends for emergency care.

    The event, which focuses on healthy lifestyle choices for all ages, is made possible through the efforts of Newark-Wayne and several community partners including: Lincoln School PTA, Newark Police Department, Wayne County Public Health, WACK Radio and Newark Wegman’s.
