  • A 35-year-old Palmyra woman now faces charges of animal cruelty after she allegedly abandoned three animals when she was evicted from her Manchester apartment.
The Ontario County Sheriff's Office said Emily Marie Ingalls, of 1805 Maple Ave., Palmyra, was evicted from her apartment at 182 County Road 7, Manchester. After she moved out, between May 9-15, police said she allegedly left a domesticated rabbit in a cage and two cats behind.
Her former landlord discovered the animals on an enclosed porch of that apartment and notified the Humane Society when Ingalls did not return for her animals. Humane Society officials found that the rabbit had not been fed or watered in at least three days and the cats had escaped the porch by clawing through a screen window.
On May 17 Ingalls was charged with cruelty to animals, animal abandonment, and failing to provide food and water to a confined animal. She will appear in Manchester Town Court at a later date to answer charges.
