The class of 2012 has many talented students. But two standouts are Parastou Ranjbar, valedictorian, and Kristy Allen, salutatorian.

Valedictorian Parastou Ranjbar graduates with a 99.285 GPA but what she learned during her years at Gananda go beyond her school work.

“I have learned about the importance of caring for each other,” Ranjbar said, reflecting on her time at Gananda. “Because we live in such a close community everyone looks out for each other.”

While in high school Ranjbar participated in student congress, Friends of Rachel and served as class treasurer. She attributes her academic success to hard work.

“My mom modeled hard work and always told me if you work hard you will get rewarded in the end,” said Ranjbar. “All my hard work has paid off.”

Ranjbar plans to study pre-med at Wake Forest College in the fall.

Kristy Allen, who has been named Salutatorian for her GPA of 98.137, has excelled academically while standing out on the stage. As a performer, she has been dedicated to theater, dance and chorus. Allen has also participated in Model UN, Math League and Scouts.

Allen plans to study Geology and Archeology at SUNY Potsdam in the fall.

The Class of 2012 will graduate at 10 a.m. Saturday, June 23, in Gananda’s Ruben A. Cirillo High School gymnasium.
