Wayne County Council for the Arts is excited about their new fundraiser in 2012 entitled “Salvaged Gems”.

“Find a piece of old furniture and use any possible artistic media to make it come alive.” It can be from a secondhand store, garage sale, on the side of the road, in their basement — use your imagination.

Artists should take a before and after picture of their piece of furniture and if possible let us know where they found this “gem”. You are encouraged to use all possible artistic medium on the furniture pieces. Be as creative as possible. You may create more than one piece.

All pieces should be delivered to Wayne Arts Council by Saturday, July 7. Create a tag for your piece describing the medium used on the furniture, your name, address, telephone number and email. For registration and additional information call Wayne Arts at 331-4593 or check out our website at www.waynearts.wordpress.com.

All proceeds for the sale will go to support the programs offered to the community by Wayne County Council for the Arts.

A reception for all of the participating artists and the public silent auction will be held on Sunday, July 15 from 2 to 5 p.m.

Wayne Art Gallery hours are Thursday, Friday and Saturday, noon to 3 p.m. and by appointment. Visit the exhibits and stop by the Gallery Gift Store. Gift certificates are available for classes and gift store items. Wayne County Council for the Arts is located at 108 W. Miller St. in Newark.
