  • Letter: Library board would benefit from Carolyn Bradstreet’s presence

  • With pleasure and without hesitation I offer an enthusiastic recommendation for Carolyn Bradstreet, Palmyra Community Library Board of Trustees candidate. As a Palmyra-Macedon High School counselor, I knew Carolyn as a professional colleague, as a community servant and as a mother. In each of these capacities, I experienced an individual of exceptional skills and outstanding character.

As a reading specialist, Carolyn had the expertise to motivate and encourage students for whom reading was difficult. Genuine in her concern and support, Carolyn was a consummate child advocate who developed an excellent rapport with students and their parents. She had a natural ease when interacting with individuals; her style was honest and open. Carolyn was comfortable with individuals and in group settings; her public presentations were professional and polished. Faculty and administration were invariably impressed with her students’ results; significant student improvement was the norm. These qualities distinguished Carolyn from her peers and earned her the position of District Reading Coordinator for grades K-12. Carolyn was equally successful in that capacity. Throughout the district, Carolyn was known for being knowledgeable, conscientious and meticulous. Furthermore, her strong work ethic was unrivaled. Upon her retirement, the administration honored her outstanding service to the district.
I have also had the pleasure of working with Carolyn as a Palmyra-Macedon Chapter of Dollars for Scholars trustee. For the past three years, Carolyn has volunteered her service to this organization. Within a short time Carolyn’s skills and energy made her invaluable to the program. Not only was Carolyn elected secretary, she also accepted several key roles on the board and has been integral in the success of the awards ceremony.
Lastly, I would like to comment on Carolyn’s personality and character. Carolyn has a consistency of temperament and exercises thoughtful, mature judgment. Without exception, she is a team player who is upbeat, cooperative and enthused. A dedicated volunteer, Carolyn’s efforts always demonstrate initiative and her work surpasses what is required. As a parent and as a professional, she promotes admirable values; the foremost of which is integrity. Carolyn exemplifies someone who is honorable, hardworking and genuine. She is someone in whom I would place my absolute trust. I firmly believe Carolyn would be a tremendous asset to the Palmyra Community Library Board of Trustees.
