Marine Corps Pvt. William Hartman III, son of Irma and Joe East of Palmyra, graduated from 13 weeks of recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C.

Marine Corps Pvt. William Hartman III, son of Irma and Joe East of Palmyra, graduated from 13 weeks of recruit training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot at Parris Island, S.C.


One week prior to graduation, Hartman endured "The Crucible", a 54-hour final test of recruits' minds and bodies. Upon completion, recruits are presented the Marine Corps emblem and called Marines for the first time.


Hartman is a 2012 graduate of Palmyra-Macedon High School.
