  • Two Lyons men were charged with second-degree assault after a fight involving at least 10 people and sending one person to the hospital in the early morning hours of May 17, Newark police said.
Loirmus Desius, 23,  of 111 Geneva St., and Alexander L. Clack, 22, of 38 Lawrence St., were allegedly involved in a fight at Tommy’s Tavern, at the corner of Murray and East Pearl streets, where Sgt. Jim Thomson and Officer Brandon Salerno said they learned that bar manager Ronald Mack was hit in the head with a beer bottle by Desius and severely cut his face. Further investigation revealed Mack was then struck over the head with a metal chair by Clack after the fight moved outside to the parking lot.
Mack was transported to Newark-Wayne Community Hospital by Newark Volunteer Ambulance for treatment of his injuries.
Desius and Clack were arraigned before Newark Village Justice William Schusler and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $10,000 cash or $20,000 bail bond for Desius and  $2,500 cash or $5,000 bail bond for Clack. They are both scheduled to reappear in court on Wednesday, May 22.
