The Lions Club organization is a charitable group which works very hard raising money throughout the year via various fund-raising projects, some of which include selling popcorn/sodas from their popcorn wagon at the Hill Cumorah Pageant, the Wayne County Fair, Pirates Week-end, & Canal Town Days.  They then turn around and donate 100% of those funds back to the community.  A few of those charities include Dollars for Scholars, Food Pantries, Good Neighbor Fund, Habitat for Humanity, House of John, Meals on Wheels, Mercy Flight, Batavia School for the Blind, and the Red Cross to name a few.  This group is part of a world-wide organization with the motto, "To Serve" .

Members of the Pal-Mac Lions Club are all volunteers who have a desire to serve their communities.  Some of their many projects which serve and assist the community include; administering the Pedia Vision Screening Program (almost 900 children screened this year), working the Loan Closet (wheel chairs, handicap items, etc.), conducting the Christmas Angel Tree project at Christmas, manning and serving at the area Red Cross Fund Raiser, working with Historic Palmyra projects, the collection of eye glasses/hearing aids, providing eye exams for the needy, doing a Rt. 31 clean-up (several times per yr.), serving @ the Palmyra Food Pantry, volunteering for Red Kettle Bell Ringing, and working the Palmyra Town Auction.  In addition, organizing the Community Halloween Parade, Community Easter Egg Hunt, and Pal-Mac Pirates Week-end.

Their club recently completed a "Community Needs Assessment" which clearly indicated that due to economic conditions in the area communities, there is even a greater need to raise additional funds.   They are hoping for a very successful, "Garage Sale for Charity".  For further information regarding the Palmyra-Macedon Lions Club and their activities, or information as to becoming a Lions Club member, please contact Nancy Skeels, President at 315-597-5011.  Their meetings are held the 1st and 3rd Tuesdays of each month at 6:30 PM in the Alling Coverlet Museum on Williams St., Palmyra, NY.
