October 31, 1912

Ad - Under The Hammer! Building Lots on Stuerwald Avenue - Sold To Highest Bidder - Tuxill Realty.

George C. Perkins of the Jackson & Perkins Co. purchased an additional 160 acres of farm land adjoining the Perkinsville Farm, southeast of Lyons.

Ad - Piano Sale - Terms- C. Kurizmann & Co. - Commercial Building.

Newark merchants organized to share customer credit information and eliminate trade abuses. The secretary of the organization would act as a collection agent for all members.

October 29, 1937

Ad - F.W. Woolworth Co. announces the Grand Opening of their new greatly enlarged modern store at 127-131 South Main Street.

Sarah Peirson Price, 91, a descendant of Newark's earliest settlers died at her on West Miller Street.

Costumes and eerie decorations formed the motif of a gala Halloween  party at the West Miller St. home of Miss Shirley Reed and 34 of her young friends.

Ad - Halloween Dance and Buffet Supper at the Gardenier Hotel - Don Herman and his Rochester Band - $1.50 per couple.

October 25, 1962

The first annual indoor auto show was held at the new Danceland Auditorium, sponsored by Newark Auto dealers and WACK Radio.

The Wayne County Selective Service Board reported that no orders had been received to step up draft calls, in spite of the Cuba incident.

Miss Marjorie Comstock, retired  Newark teacher , started her second career teaching teachers in Southern Rhodesia.

The Newark High School soccer team tied with Midlakes 0-0 at Newark.

Sidewalk Talk Rumors Were- Sibley's Leaving? Ponderosa Coming? K-Mart Building?

The possibility of a supercollider project in Wayne County had folks saying "Not in my back yard."
