  • FLCC’s Marren, Simmons honored

  • Two Finger Lakes Community College baseball players and head coach Sean Marren were honored by the Mid-State Athletic Conference earlier this week. Infielder Nate Eastman garnered Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, while teammate Joey Simmons received first team honors. Marren was named the conference’s co-coach of the year.

Infielder Nate Eastman garnered Mid-State Athletic Conference Player of the Year honors, while teammate Joey Simmons received first team honors. Marren was named the conference’s co-coach of the year.
    Simmons received first team honors for his all-around game. The Victor native has batted .378 in the lead-off spot, and is second on the team with 22 RBI. He leads the team with six triples and 26 stolen bases. Simmons also made an impact with his glove, with just one error in 91 chances.
    In his second season as manager, Marren has led the Lakers to a 23-26 record. The Victor native shared the award with Jefferson Community College head coach John Northrop.
    After starting the season slow, Eastman rebounded in a major way. With two games remaining, the Oneonta native is batting .373 with a team-high 27 RBI. Eastman also leads the team with a .492 slugging percentage.
