  • Even as the economy continued to sputter through the winter and into the spring, Wayne County businesses and individuals, led by many of our area’s largest employers, found a way to dig deep to support the important mission of the United Way of Wayne County.
While pledges were just short of the $740,000 goal mark, the annual campaign raised slightly over $725,000 to support good works across Wayne County.
“Given the economic climate in which we’ve been operating, we set a realistic goal that would be attainable,  and the total amount raised is a testament to the caring hearts of the people in the community,” said Carol Pettis, Regional Director.
“It has been great to see so many people care for our community and give back – it makes a huge difference,” said Suzie Earl, United Way of Wayne County Board resident.
The United Way funds 22 programs in Wayne County. These programs help address the community's most pressing issues with a focus on Early Intervention, Youth, Crisis, Aging and Disabilities.
To give to the United Way of Wayne County, donations may be mailed to 165 East Union St., Newark N.Y. 14513 or visit our website at www.uwwaynecounty.org or like us on Facebook. For more information, call 331-2773.
