Newark man accused of attacking woman faces more charges
A Newark man accused of attacking a woman and taking her car is facing new charges.
Seth Brown, 31, is charged with third-degree attempted robbery in addition to robbery and grand larceny charges from last week.
The arrest stems from an investigation of a robbery on Jan. 10 in the village of Newark, when Newark Police arrested Brown for charges within the village.
While fleeing from Newark, police say, he demanded a woman drive him to Fairport, then a man picked him up on Route 31 in Palmyra. Police say Brown tried to force the man to drive to an ATM and withdraw money.
The victim luckily spotted a police car, pulled up to it and jumped out of his car.
Brown is in the Wayne County Jail without bail.
Woman charged with DWI
A Fairport woman was charged with driving while intoxicated, failing to stop at a stop sign and aggravated DWI, Macedon police said,
Linda Cattieu, 63, was allegedly stopped on Macedon Center Road for failing to stop at a stop sign, police said. An investigation revealed that Cattieu was intoxicated and field sobriety tests showed she a blood-alcohol content of .19 percent.
She was issued appearance tickets for Macedon Town Court and released to a third party.
Man charged following traffic stop
A Macedon man was charged with failure to keep right and driving while intoxicated with a blood-alcohol content of .08 percent or greater, Macedon police said.
Michael T. Reed, 35, was stopped on Eddy Road and Gananda Parkway for allegedly failing to keep right, police said. Further investigation showed that Reed was allegedly operating the motor vehicle in an intoxicated condition. A breath test revealed that Reed allegedly had a BAC of .17 percent.
He was issued appearance tickets for Macedon Town Court and released to a third party.
Man charged with burglary
A homeless man was charged Jan. 2 with second-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree identity theft, New York state police said.
Andrew Berg, 42, with no current address, was allegedly discovered inside the residence of a former girlfriend when she awoke in the morning, troopers said. Berg and the ex-girlfriend argued about how he got into her house and Berg allegedly punched a hole in her wall, troopers said.
After she got Berg to leave, she discovered she was missing a credit card from her purse. The credit card company told her the card had allegedly just been used at the CVS Pharmacy, in the village of Sodus to purchase beer, cigarettes and pizzas, troopers said. Later in the day, troopers located Berg and placed him under arrest.

Alleged drunk driver nabbed
A Pittsford man was charged Dec. 14 with aggravated driving while intoxicated and driving with a blood-alcohol content of .18 percent or more, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Richard Phipps, 57, of Greylock Ridge, was allegedly stopped on Route 104 in Ontario following calls to 911 about an intoxicated man who had just left a bar, deputies said. He was subsequently arrested for DWI.
He was arraigned in Ontario Town Court and sent to the Wayne County in lieu if bail.
Man faces drug charge
An Arcadia man was charged Dec. 15 with fourth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Nicholas A. Bacon, 20, of 3400 Arcadia Zurich Norris Road, was allegedly a passenger in a vehicle that was stopped for a traffic violation and found to have methylenedioxypyrovalerone, a schedule I stimulant under the state public health law, in his possession, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Arcadia Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
Woman allegedly violates order
A Galen woman was charged Dec. 21 with criminal contempt, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Tasha R. Allen, 30, allegedly violated a stay away order of protection by going to a residence she was ordered to stay away from, deputies said. A third party reported a domestic incident at the residence and Allen was allegedly located by deputies walking away from the residence.
She was arraigned in Galen Town Court and released on her own recognizance.
Man charged with assault
A Palmyra man was charged Dec. 20 with third-degree assault, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Troy A. Brown, 34, of 2881 Macedon Center Road, during an argument, allegedly punched his girlfriend’s husband in the side of the head, knocking him to the ground, deputies said. The victim suffered injury and was taken by ambulance to Strong Memorial Hospital for treatment.
Brown was arraigned in Palmyra Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
Man allegedly resists arrest
An Ontario man was charged Dec. 27 with driving while intoxicated, consumption of alcoholic beverage in a motor vehicle and resisting arrest, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Wesley F. Wingate, 35, of 7747 Roder Parkway, was allegedly stopped on Route 104 in Sodus for no signal and being stopped on pavement and found to be under the influence of alcohol, deputies said. He then allegedly physically resisted being taken into custody.
He was arraigned in Lyons Village Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $2,500 bail.

Man allegedly steals, sells bulldozer parts
A Seneca Falls man was charged Dec. 18 with third-degree grand larceny, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Frank E. Barner, 34, allegedly entered private property in Arcadia with other people in July and stole miscellaneous bulldozer and other heavy equipment parts and then sold them to Alpco Recycling in Macedon, deputies said. Recovered bulldozer parts valued over $10,000.
He was arraigned in Arcadia Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are pending.
Two charged in burglary
A Lyons man and a Seneca Falls woman were charged Jan. 3 with third-degree burglary, New York state police said.
Christopher J. Freeman, 25, and Hailey E. Goodell, 20, allegedly entered and damaged property inside the Erie Canal Motel on Route 31 in Lyons on April 7, troopers said.
They were arraigned in Lyons Town Court. Freeman was sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of $10,000 bail and returned to the Ontario County Jail where he was being held on unrelated charges. Goodell was released on her own recognizance.
Fleeing man charged
A North Rose man was charged Dec. 30 with illegal possession of a hypodermic needle, seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, driving while intoxicated, failing to yield the right of way to an emergency vehicle, reckless driving, refusal of a breath screening test, failing to dim headlights, following too closely, imprudent speed and failing to keep right, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Preston M. Lagasse, 36, of Ridge Road, allegedly lost control of his vehicle and went off the road after allegedly attempting to flee from deputies, police said. He was allegedly found to be under the influence of alcohol and in possession of drugs.
He was arraigned in Sodus Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
Stop leads to DWI arrest
A Palmyra man was charged Jan. 5 with driving while intoxicated, aggravated DWI with a blood-alcohol content of .18 percent or more, failing to keep right on a two-lane road and moving from lane unsafely, New York state police said.
Matthew K. Carkner, 19, from 3200 Maple Ave., was allegedly stopped for failing to keep right and moving from lane unsafely and found to be under the influence of alcohol, troopers said. Field sobriety tests revealed he allegedly had a BAC of .23 percent.
He was issued appearance tickets for Macedon Town Court and released to his father.
Man charged after disturbance
An Ontario man was charged Dec. 31 with fourth-degree criminal mischief, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Page 4 of 5 - Thomas J. Tomasino, 35, allegedly broke household items during a domestic disturbance, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Ontario Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
Man allegedly slaps victim
A Palmyra man was charged Dec. 28 with second-degree harassment and endangering the welfare of a child, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Christopher M. Riddle, 41, of 202 E. Main St., allegedly slapped his girlfriend several times in front of their 1-month-old child, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Palmyra Village Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
Woman charged with endangering
A Brockport woman was charged Jan. 3 with endangering the welfare of a child, New York state police said.
Danielle C Moser, 31, from 8258 Ridge Road West, was involved in an incident on Route 414 in Walworth where troopers were dispatched for a third party endangering a child, troopers said.
She was issued an appearance ticket and released.
Three injured in 3-car crash
Three people were injured in a three-car motor vehicle accident Dec. 26, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Daniel Roalnd, 32, of 6482 Fairville Maple Ridge Road, Arcadia, was traveling north on Route 21 in Marion, when his pickup truck crossed into incoming traffic and struck a southbound pickup driven by Brad Turner, 19, 3759 Huntley Road, Marion, deputies said. A third pickup driven by Cory Walker, 19, of 4648 Eddy Ridge Road, Marion, also traveling south, then struck Roland’s pickup.
Roland, Turner and his passenger, Tara Thompson, were transported to Strong Memorial Hospital. Walker was not injured.
The investigation is ongoing.
Deputies were assisted at the scene by Marion Fire Department and Ambulance, Walworth Ambulance and Finger Lakes Ambulance.
Sex offender charged
A Williamson man was charged Jan. 2 with two count of failing to verify and failing to provide a photograph, all class D felonies, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Vincent E. French, 48, of 4087 Ridge Road, Apt. 2, a level 1 sex offender, allegedly failed to provide required annual verification of his address and an updated photograph of himself after the sheriff’s office received notification from the state, deputies said. French could not be located at his address by deputies and turned himself in at the sheriff’s office.
He was arraigned in Lyons Town Court and sent to the Wayne County Jail in lieu of bail.
Man allegedly chokes victim
A Galen man was charged Jan. 2 with third-degree assault and criminal obstruction of breathing, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Joshua F. Yonge, 22, of 641 Tyre Road, was allegedly involved in a physical altercation during which he allegedly choked his sister and caused injury, deputies said.

Man charged with larceny
A Palmyra man was charged Jan. 2 with third-degree grand larceny, Wayne County sheriff’s deputies said.
Darcy Allen allegedly stole property in excess of $10,000 from a third party, deputies said.
He was arraigned in Arcadia Town Court and released on his own recognizance.
Man allegedly had drugs
A Fairport man was charged Jan. 4 with unlawful possession of marijuana, New York state police said.
Kevin Ludwif, 20, of 59 Clarkes Crossing, was stopped when troopers allegedly spotted his vehicle traveling east on Route 31 in Macedon with an incorrect inspection sticker and found to have marijuana, troopers said.
He was issued an appearance ticket for Macedon Village Court and released.
