  • Lyons Elks Lodge Hoop Shoot Chairman Steve Leo reports that local competition has been completed.  
    Lyons School physical education teachers Eric Kuhn and Sue Mack assisted with the early stages of the competition. It was reported that over 350 students participated in the annual “Hoop Shoot Competition” sponsored by the Lyons Elks Lodge No. 869. Chairman Leo pointed out that the free throw shooting contest was open to all youngsters aged 8 to 13 at the two schools.
    Local final competition was recently held at the Lyons Community Center. Lyons Elks Lodge No. 869 provided participation ribbons for all students in the program and trophies for those finishing in first, second and third places. At the end of the competition local champions were determined to be:
    Girls
    Ages 8–9: Riley Decola, first place; Jenna Stone, second place; Abby Gravino, third place.
    Ages 10-1: Caiden Crego, first place; Caitlin Shaffer, second place; Alison Cook, third place.
    Boys:
    Ages 8-9: Jerrell Petty, first place; Justin Smith, second place; Connor Bastian, third place.
    Ages 10-11: Justice Smith, first place;  Jack Rossignol, second place; Hunter Boyer, third place.
    Ages 12-13: Kerel Kelley, first place;  Andrew Norris, second place; Tim Watson, third place.
    The first place champions will go on to compete against winners sponsored by other area Elks Lodges including Rochester, Canandaigua, Seneca Falls, Newark, Wolcott and Webster-Fairport. The District competition will be hosted by Wolcott Elks Lodge under the direction of District Hoop Shoot Chairman Ed Miller.
