  • Gananda’s Ruben A. Cirillo High School held its annual National Honor Society induction ceremony Jan. 24, and 31 new inductees — joined 16 current members who were previously inducted.
NHS inductees are: Michelle Ballaron, Bonnie Binggeli, Rachel Bush, Allison Camp, David Carder, Jessie Carder, Alexandra Cunningham, Emily Dean, Emily Donnan, Katie Drake, Morgan Hart, Taylere Herrmann, Kristina Keenan, Abigail Kois, Bethany Lane, Sarah Looney, Lindsey Mason, Gillian Merklinger, Mitchell Miller, Lucy Montanaro, Eric Mucci, Colin Nims, Zoe Paris, Courtney Porcelli, Heather Prinsen, Kole Seeber, Nick Skrotzki, Emily Stange, Jennifer Stearns, Jessica Stookey, and Mallory Velte.
Students selected to the society are among the highest scholastic achievers in their school. In order to apply for NHS, students must achieve a high school GPA of 90 or higher. In addition, the selection process was rigorous; students needed to demonstrate a proven track record of community service and involvement in student organizations and teachers completing evaluations on each applicant based on tenants of National Honor Society (scholarship, service, leadership, and character). Finally, the National Honor Society Committee reviews the applications and recommendations to determine eligibility.
As members of the Honor Society, students are expected to uphold the Honor Society’s standards of scholarship, service, leadership, and character. The group also plans community service events and volunteer projects throughout the year.
