A woman died in a crash this morning on Route 104 between Ontario and Williamson after being struck by a bus.

A woman and her dog are dead after a crash involving a SUV and a Wayne County ARC bus. It happened on Fisher Road at Route 104 in the town of Williamson around 7:15 a.m.
Deputies say the woman, who is believed to be in her 30s, may have run the stop sign crossing Route 104 from Fisher Road. The driver’s side of her SUV was hit by the bus that was traveling approximately 55 miles per hour – which is the speed limit.

Wayne County Chief Deputy Bob Hetzke said, “We’ve got a divided two-lane highway and we’ve got these roadways that come up to it and for whatever reason people kind of forget there’s a stop sign.”

The woman was rushed to Rochester General Hospital, where she was pronounced dead. Her dog, in the car at the time, also died.

The driver of the bus suffered minor injuries. The five clients on the bus were not injured. Route 104 in the area of the crash is closed to traffic at this time.
