Bristol Mountain Winter Resort opens Tuesday at 9 a.m. for the new season.

With the cold and snowy weather that has hit the region, Bristol Mountain Winter Resort is opening even earlier than expected for its milestone 50th season — the resort opens Tuesday, Nov. 26, at 9 a.m.

"The recent arctic blast from Canada has enabled our mountain operations team to get a jump on snowmaking this year," said Bristol's new Mountain Manager Paul Trippi.

To mark the anniversary, a ribbon cutting ceremony will take place at the Comet Express chairlift prior to the 9 a.m. lift start. Upper and Lower Rocket trails will be open for those with advanced level skills.

As conditions permit, the resort's remaining trails will open as the season kicks into high gear over the coming weeks.

The 2013-14 operating season is scheduled for Nov. 26 to April 6. Night Season will be from December 13 to March 9, with extended hours until 10 p.m.

Special events and entertainment are planned during the season to celebrate the half-century mark. This Wednesday, Nov. 27, Flying Boxcars will provide musical entertainment for a 50th Anniversary Après Ski event in the Satellite Lounge from 4-7p.m. Carver's Kitchen will be open with a limited menu during the same time period. Season pass-holders, day guests, and employees are invited to join in this season kick-off.
