The Canal Corporation and Parks & Trails New York established Canal Clean Sweep as part of Earth Day on April 22,

The village of Macedon and Macedon Village Pride held the event. Thirty-seven volunteers from Monroe, Ontario and Wayne counties came to help the Village Department of Public Works staff and help clean Canal Park-Lock 30 to welcome all visitors to enjoy the amenities that surround the place.

The event took place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., with everyone working hard to make sure all the tasks were complete. At the end, everyone gathered by a picnic table full of food, beverages, kite flying and s’mores. This day is a day that reminds us all that good does exist and brings out the heart in anyone that has the opportunity to be part of this event.  It reminds us the importance of friendship, respect, laughter, helping each other and taking the time to talk with each other.

The Canal Park-Lock 30 both on the north and south side of the barge canal looks clean due to the volunteers of Project S.H.O.W, Finger Lakes DDSO-OPWDD, Macedon Village Pride Committee members, Lock 30-Butterfly Nature Trail Volunteers, Bill from Victor and Rob from Penfield, Jeff-Lock Operator and Ron Albert and Faye Gibbs Pal-Mac High School class volunteering in their community.
