Wayne County Nursing Home resident recognized for art work

John Mayer, a resident at Wayne County Nursing Home, was recently recognized for his art work by Leading Age, an advocacy group for nursing homes.

Mayer submitted a charcoal drawing of old time men playing checkers to an art contest for nursing home residents. His drawing was selected to be included in this year’s Leading Age New York Art Exhibition. He was one of 70 participants to be chosen.

The exhibition will be on display at the Leading Age offices in Albany. It was also be displayed at various conferences being held during the remainder of the year.

Macedon soldier promoted in New York Army National Guard

Connor Zerniak, of Macedon, was recently promoted to the rank of specialist in the New York Army National Guard.

Zerniak serves with the 105th Military Police Company.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.
