The Gananda girls varsity basketball team will host a color run at 10 a.m. Oct. 2 at Ruben A. Cirillo High School, 3195 Wiedrick Road, Walworth, to raise funds for Gananda Central School District’s basketball program.

The color run is an untimed run for all ages and fitness abilities with 1 and 2 1/2 mile routes available. Participants can either run or walk the event, which will pass through color zones. Preregistered participants will receive a color packet to throw in the air at the final finish line color celebration.

“We wanted to find a way to engage our community,” Coach Karin Meuwissen said. “We hope that this will be a fun, unifying event that also provides an alternative way for our teams to raise funds.”

Participants who register by Sept. 17 will receive a free T-shirt, race bib and color packet for $20. Registration fees increase to $25 and there is no guarantee for a T-shirt, bib or color packet after Sept. 17.
