Palmyra-Macedon High School will perform “Bye Bye Birdie” at 7 p.m. March 10-11 and 2 p.m. March 12 in the Performing Arts Center, 151 Hyde Parkway, Palmyra.
Conrad Birdie is a 1950s rock ‘n’ roll star who has been drafted to the war. Albert tries to get Birdie to play one last performance so he can marry his girlfriend, Rosie. Birdie’s final performance requires him to kiss high school student Kim MacAfee on “The Ed Sullivan Show,” but her boyfriend, Hugo Peabody, gets jealous. Albert’s proposal plans are also jeopardized by Mama Mae Peterson’s efforts to break up his relationship.
The cast features Dawson Hurlbutt as Birdie, Ryan Smith as Albert, Sarah Wixson as Rosie, Michaela Darbyshire as MacAfee, Evan Baginski as Peabody and Emma Jackson as Peterson. Notable songs include “Put on a Happy Face,” “One Last Kiss” and “A Lot of Livin’ to Do.”
