WEBSTER — A Xerox spokesperson says 177 positions in Webster will be eliminated.
Of those 177 positions, 20 are salaried positions, and the rest are members of the Industrial Work Force. Employees were notified on Thursday.
Xerox says the transition will be phased over the next year. The layoffs are expected to begin in September and are scheduled to be completed by March 2018. A WARN notice will be filed at the end of June, with local and state officials stating that Xerox will lay off workers in connection with the closure of its Webster Spares Distribution Center.
The primary building to be closed is the warehouse operation in Building 214.
Xerox currently employs 3,900 employees in Monroe County.
Last month brought news that Xerox's former business services division, the now independent Conduent, would relocate from Webster to a site in the former Medley Center mall property in Irondequoit.
