A photonics company slated to bring hundreds of jobs and millions in investment to Rochester won't be moving into Eastman Business Park.

In March 2016, Governor Andrew Cuomo announced two companies, 1,400 jobs and $1.6 billion in investment for Rochester. Last year, the state cancelled the deal with one of the companies, Photonica.

Now, nearly two years later, News10NBC has confirmed that not one job, and not one nickel, will be coming to Rochester. Avogy, the second company, has filed for bankruptcy and gone out of business.

"We've got money set aside to recruit other businesses that align with photonics, said Howard Zemsky, president of Empire State Development: "As time goes on, those companies will provide exciting opportunities for Rochester and we'll go after them."
