For the past three years, the popular Mario's Restaurant had planned on reopening in the Pittsford/Brighton area but announced Wednesday- the restaurant is moving to Irondequoit. A new Mario’s Homemade Pasta Kitchen will open on Irondequoit Bay this summer. The space will also include an ice cream parlor with outside walk-up window service.

The Daniele family has announced plans to reopen Mario's restaurant at a new location at Irondequoit Bay next to Southpoint Marina, after almost three years on Monroe Avenue in the Pittsford/Brighton area.

The new Mario’s Homemade Pasta Kitchen will occupy the space of the current Bazil Restaurant, which will close on May 20, on Empire Blvd. on Irondequoit Bay. All Bazil Restaurant gift cards will be accepted at the new eatery.

“The new Mario’s will open by June of this year if all goes well," Anthony Daniele said in a statement.

Mario’s son Danny Daniele said, “Our hope was to re-open Mario’s last year in the new Whole Foods plaza where Mario’s once flourished, however with balancing delays in approvals on that property we have chosen to move forward and locate the new concept on the lakefront at Irondequoit Bay next to Southpoint Marina.”

Mario Daniele hinted at bringing back the popular salad bar and warm herb rolls. The developers also said Saturday and Sunday brunches will be offered at the new location and the space will include an ice cream parlor with outside walk-up window service.
