Wayne Central High School students involved in the musical production of “The Addams Family” recently were recognized at the Wayne County Council for Arts, Elenbe Awards ceremony.
Best described as the high school Tony awards of Wayne County, the Elenbe Awards recognizes excellence in drama and musical productions, both individuals and overall productions, in Wayne County high schools.
A red carpet awards ceremony, led by news anchor Don Alhart as master of ceremonies, was held at Newark High School. Each participating school had the opportunity to perform a short selection from their production.
Awards went to winners and runners-up in categories including best supporting actress/actor in play/musical, best actress/actor in play/musical, as well as several ensemble awards and an overall production award. Winners received a trophy, and had the opportunity to give a short acceptance speech.
Winners from Wayne Central were Payton Loveless, runner-up, best supporting actor in a musical; Dominic Lombardo, best actor in a musical; best orchestra; and runner-up for best production of a musical.
