Ontario student completes summer program at Syracuse University

Nia Parks, of Ontario, recently completed a two-week summer college program at Syracuse University designed to develop skills that will help her succeed in business as an entrepreneur or corporate innovator.

Launching a Business: Strategic Leadership and Innovation featured instructors from Syracuse’s Blackstone LaunchPad. Parks, a junior at the Aquinas Institute in Rochester, participated in small group discussions, guest lectures and learning tools with her peers and instructors that focused on entrepreneurship, management, communications and professional readiness.

Parks plans to launch a business in the future that deals with hair products. She enrolled in business courses at Aquinas and joined DECA, a club that prepares emerging leaders and entrepreneurs for success in college and careers.


Newark exchange student leaves for Denmark

Newark Rotary Club’s youth exchange student, Grace Kreuser, left to spend the 2018-19 school year in Odense, Denmark.

Kreuser will live with three host families in the next year. She recently graduated from Newark High School, and is taking a year off before she starts college. She plans to major in biomedical engineering at University of Vermont after her year abroad.

Kreuser’s father, Marc, is a past president for Newark Rotary. Her mother, Holly, is president-elect, and her brother, Ryan, was an outbound exchange student to the Netherlands.
