Johnny's Irish Pub is closing on Sept. 15, after 21 years of serving Rochester-area patrons in a smoke-free environment.

A beloved Rochester bar closes it's doors after 21 years.

Wednesday night we learned that Johnny's Irish Pub is closing on Sept. 15.

The owner, Johnny Savino, told News10NBC Wednesday that when he started it, he thought he'd only be running it for five years.

Now, the area is growing, and he wants to spend more time with his family.

Johnny's was the first smoke-free bar in Rochester back in 1997, years before the state ban.

Johnny says he knows of at least 33 couples who met at the bar.
