New York Army National Guard promotes North Rose soldier

The New York Army National Guard recently promoted Nathan Sanford, of North Rose, to the rank of specialist.

Sanford is assigned to the Company B, Combat Engineer, 152nd Brigade Engineer Battalion.

Army National Guard promotions are based on overall performance, attitude, leadership ability and development potential.


Newark Community Health welcomes new providers

Leah Blitz and Jessica Sullivan recently joined dentist Aisha Toure at Newark Community Health as a dentist and physician assistant, respectively.

Blitz previously worked over five years of the community. She graduated from the Case Western Reserve School of Dental Medicine in Cleveland.

Sullivan practiced emergency medicine for the first eight years of her career, when she realized the importance of helping people prevent illnesses and the need for primary care in the community.

Pal-Mac senior selected to all-state chorus

Palmyra-Macedon High School senior Ryan Smith recently was selected for Conference All-State Chorus.

Smith earned a perfect 100 score on his Level VI song at the New York State School Music Association Solo Festival. He performs with the Pal-Mac Select Choir and Wind Ensemble, and is on the school’s cross-country team. He played lead roles in the two most recent musicals: the Baker in “Into the Woods” and Albert Peterson in “Bye Bye Birdie.”

The three-day All-State Conference in December will gather high school musicians together at the Joseph A. Floreano Rochester Convention Center and Eastman School of Music.
