Wayne County Council for the Arts, 108 W. Miller St., Newark, will host “Threads,” a regional fiber arts show, this November to present an artistic approach to the craft using traditional and unusual fiber-based materials and techniques that express the vision on the artist.
The exhibition will run Nov. 1-24. Local artists are encouraged to enter works created using fiber techniques. The Wayne Art Gallery is accepting 2D or 3D work and heirloom pieces, such as quilts, weaving, floor and wall art, felting, vessels and baskets, sculptures, tapestries, needlework, handmade paper, and wearable items including accessories.
Artists can deliver up to three entries from 2 to 5 p.m. on Oct. 28. The exhibit will be installed from 4 to 6 p.m. on Oct. 28-29. The show will include a reception from 4 to 6 p.m. on Nov. 10.
Art will be removed from 4 to 7 p.m. on Nov. 26. For special accommodations, contact Wayne Arts at least 10 days in advance.
This judged show is open to all fiber artists in the region. Works that were exhibited previously at Wayne Arts are not eligible. Works must be of original design by the artist. Pieces made from kits must be labeled as such and will not be included in judging.
