The Wayne County Sheriff’s Office will conduct a Stop-DWI Crackdown for Halloween from Oct. 30 to Nov. 4.
This crackdown is linked with other law enforcement initiatives done at key times of the year. The Sheriff’s Office is promoting it under a county and statewide umbrella.
The local crackdown includes all law enforcement agencies in Wayne County. Police departments, state police and the Sheriff’s Office are coordinating awareness, education and enforcement activities.
Research demonstrates that highly visible, publicized efforts like the Stop-DWI Halloween Crackdown can reduce the occurrence of DWI. The next crackdown will take place around Thanksgiving.
The Sheriff’s Office reminds residents to watch out for trick-or-treaters when driving during this period.
