The Gananda and Wayne Central girls varsity swimming and diving teams finished their 2018 Section V Class C seasons in fifth and 13th place, respectively.
At the Section V Class C Championships, Gananda took five titles, set five team records and achieved the only two state championship qualifying times. Gananda is the only Class C team going to the state championships.
Darby McNamara won the 100 butterfly with a state-qualifying time and a team record. McNamara won the 100 backstroke with a team record.
Krista Willard won the 50 freestyle and the 100 freestyle, achieving a state-qualifying time and team record in each event.
Jocelyn Roos finished 10th in the 200 freestyle and ninth in the 100 freestyle.
Alexis Whitney finished 14th in the 200 freestyle and sixth in the 500 freestyle.
The team of Whitney, Willard, McNamara and Roos finished second in the 200 medley relay, setting a team record. This team also won the 400 freestyle.
The team of Lillian Freeman, Kathryn Harms, Ashlyn Bolte-Pauley and Emma Linder finished 13th in the 200 freestyle relay.
For the Wayne Central team, Kyleigh Brooks finished ninth in diving, and Emma Wallace finished third in the 500 freestyle and 11th in the 100 backstroke.
The relay team of Zoe Monahan, Julia Sponable, Wallace and Brooks finished 13th in the 200 medley relay and 11th in the 200 freestyle relay.
