A Village of Rushville Trustee was charged with stealing over $440,000 from a Victor technology company over a span of a decade.
VICTOR — The office manager of a technology company — who also is a Village of Rushville trustee — was charged Wednesday with grand larceny for allegedly stealing over $440,000 over a decade.
Ontario County sheriffs deputies say Kimberly Payne, 51, stole money from her former employer, where she was responsible for handling financial accounts. Police say she used her position to forge checks and electronically transfer money into various personal banking accounts. Investigators said Payne also altered the amount of her contribution toward her own health insurance.
Staff at the Village of Rushville confirmed Wednesday that she is currently an elected official and would not comment on the matter, as they were unaware of the charges.
The Rushville resident was being held at the Ontario County Centralized Arraignment and will return to court at a later date to face charges.
