Registration is open through Dec. 7 for universal pre-kindergarten classes provided by Gananda Central School District. The new program for 3- and 4-year-olds will start on Jan. 7, 2019.
The district recently was notified by the state that it was a priority to receive funding for a free pre-K program. GCSD completed and submitted an application by the October deadline. To qualify for funding, the pre-K program must start in January 2019.
“We are excited for the opportunity to offer our residents a free pre-K program,” Superintendent Shawn Van Scoy said. “Enriching young students can help foster a love of learning, and this program aligns perfectly with our mission of educating every student for success.”
Registration is open to children living within the district who will be 3 or 4 years old as of Dec. 1. Packets are available online and must be submitted by Dec. 7.
A lottery will be held on Dec. 11 to determine student placement in morning or afternoon classes, and determine the number of sessions. The results will be released on Dec. 14.
An open enrollment for Gananda’s fall pre-K classes will take place in the spring.
