The Inn on the Lake will be replaced by a new-look luxury boutique inn
What managing director Chris Burns described earlier this year as "the full transformation" is well underway at The Inn on the Lake in Canandaigua, with demolition at the existing structure at 770 S. Main St. to make way for a rebuilt "luxury boutique style inn."
Doors closed in April at the inn, built in 1970 as Sheraton Canandaigua Inn. Plans are to reopen for business in early summer 2020, with a vision to create "a beautiful, modern waterfront inn featuring world-class facilities and amenities," inn management announced in February. It is to include 122 guest rooms and suites, a new lakewide restaurant and a year-round event barn. A further aim is to raise the inn's profile and capitalize on its proximity to the next-door NY Kitchen (formerly the New York Wine and Culinary Center).
Hotel management is staying on through the construction phase, working from offices at NY Kitchen.
